Obama Campaign MIA Latino Playlist

Jaimecito Messina, you mean to tell me that at campaign headquarters, there isn’t one Latino lackey who could have added some sabor to the campaign playlist leaked Thursday by Político‘s stealth journo Mike Allen?  This oversight could cost the Prez some precious votos when there’s shaken confianza:

  • Latinos are worried in poll after poll about jobs, the economy, and education, as we’ve seen our household wealth slide to the infierno–declining 66% from 2005 to 2009 according to the Pew Hispanic Center.
  • Of course there’s the broken promesa to overhaul the immigration system, a pledge he made as candidate Obama but as Presidente, deportations skyrocketed to record numbers.

¡Come on, some R-E S-P-E-C-T-O, at least with the música!  You appointed the first Latino Supreme Court justice (who reportedly dances a mean salsa).  Then there’s your-immigration-policy fall gal Cecilia Muñoz, recently appointed as Director of the White House Domestic Policy Council.

You couldn’t ask them?

Quick.  Before Hispanics read Mike’s lista (¡Psssttt!  Don’t be clumsy and play these songs only in El Paso, Texas or LA):

Lost your job?  Your casa, as we slog through recovery?  From Puerto Rico (which won’t become the 51st state if Newt gets elected.  The luna has that distinction) is El Gran Combo’s Fiesta de Pilito, with eating lechón and pasteles, plus drinking some Bacardí a temporary remedy to being on skid row.

Étnia by El Grupo Niche touches on 2008′s narrative that Obama is/was post-post-post-post-racial.  The Colombian salseros basically answer the Q: “¿Can’t we all get along?” because we all have a poquitico of this and a poquitico of that–you know, White, Black, Hispanic,  Indio, Jewish, Cristiano, Muslim.

Staying with my peeps, how about Colombian roquero Juanes’ Odio por amor, another feel good song about loving humankind, heck with some English “It’s time to change” as part of the chorus?

What did I just hear?

These songs are in español and may make it hard for our Veep to pull up in his 1981 TransAm and convince Reagan Dems in Pennsylvania to stick with this ticket?

Turn up “Let’s Get Loud” with la JLO dispensing some serious wisdom:

“You gotta do it/you gotta do it your way/You gotta prove it/You gotta mean what you say!”

Some Miami Sound to get voters to Conga all the way to the polls on Election day:

Do you really want it?

Político’s Mike Allen leaked list in Playbook Thursday, now on the Obama campaign Facebook page:

is this for real? if so, i have to say i like the choices! I have NO idea what Obama needs to go with to make his camp an effective, infectious one. I do like J.Lo’s “Let’s Get Loud!” — but I don’t think Latino’s need a directive to do that. We already are.

Perhaps he needs it on loop mode for himself!
