¡Nominated as LATISM’s 2011 Best Political Blogger!
As some of you know from last week’s post which details the high of my nomination which came during the low of Yellow’s death, my jaw dropped when I found out someone nominated The Wise Latina Club and I as Latinos in Social Media (LATISM)’s 2011 Best Political Blogger.
LATISM has been called one of the most influential online movements that works to positively change the Latino community and our country by harnessing the power of social media to educate, raise awareness, and organize.
Breaking down politics for Latinas so that they realize the urgent need for their participation in our political process, is why I started this blog with the first post a Manifesto, a roar and call to action.
Our stories must be heard and we must be actively engaged in politics because we are an integral part of this nation.
I can’t tell you how much this recognition means to me–a
validation blog-idation of all the incredible, varied, complex, accomplished, ambitious, fierce women I know whose perspectives aren’t included, whose stories aren’t being told on the news, in commercials, or the movies. Unless, of course, it’s time to roll out the maid or the sexpot.
Make no mistake: my nomination is possible because of them.
