Immigration not only created a split among American labor, with heavy weights AFL-CIO against reform on grounds that it hurts the wages and rights of native born union workers, but also helped tank previous reform efforts. Service-oriented unions such as the SEIU have historically objected to the big unions’ stance because immigrant workers swell their membership ranks. Now the big guys support immigration reform but the country is more polarized. You’ll get lost on google reading about this.

If reelected, I do not think Obama will pass Immigration Reform Law.

This is interesting, and makes me want to come back to see how you size up the GOP field. I can’t comment on Obama, until I can see what the competition has to offer (or not).

One question: do you have a link, or somewhere to confirm the point of labor unions working against immigration reform? Just curious as to which unions in particular.
