Definitely not. It doesn’t matter where they’re from, if they don’t stand for the things that matter to me then I don’t much care for them. I didn’t grow up talking much about politics so it’s only now in adulthood that I’m really taking to the discussion of politics. I so appreciate all your posts on politics – always informative and thought provoking.

I’ve always strayed from voting for the party or the man/woman and instead vote more for the candidate who believes in the issues I support. Thanks for shedding some light about who Rubio is. I appreciate your work…thanks again.

Ugggh. To be honest, I’m terrified of what 2012 will bring! I think we have a shot at improving the economy if Pres. Obama gets the opportunity to continue the work he began in his first term. If not, our impatience will be our demise.

I think Latino voters would love a latino/latina to lead our gov. , but I am not sure they would feel confident voting for him if he does not advocate for the Latina community. great article.

I’ve been following him somewhat for the past two years ONLY b/c he’s Cuban and not b/c he’s a potential anything in the 2012 race. Unfortunately, as a Cuban, having lived in Miami, I know all too well the sentiment: oye, chica, mira este Rubio…esta haciendo cosas… it’s common among minorities for us to vote “one of us” — didn’t that happen with Obama in 2008?? But by the same token, how many ppl will NOT for Obama or ever even consider Rubio precisely b/c of their race and ethnic background. It’s ignorance, regardless of the candidates’ politics.

I am not an specialist in politics, but I don’t think Hispanic people feel related to Marco Rubio, I may be wrong but I have a really bad image about him. Considering his heritage and background, he should be a Latino advocate, but he is not. Sorry, but I don’t like him and I hope he doesn’t influence anyone because he is not focus on helping hispanic families.

Didn’t know anything about Rubio until this article! Will be interesting to see how it affects Romney’s popularity if he chooses Rubio as VP. I can see some Latino voters siding with them as a team just because he is Latino. Thanks for the information! I feel so much more aware politically when I come to your site!
