¡Qué rico!

Serve guacamole as a dip for tortilla chips or as a flavorful topping on grilled vegetable tacos, which are easy to prepare using the grill secrets I share in Memorial Day Meatless Monday: Grill Out Vegetarian Style, or veggie burgers, which I recommend in Meatless Monday: Day After Father’s Day (Veggie) Burgers.

Ready for more healthy dips? Whip up homemade hummus, salsa which I write about in Meatless Monday: My Suegra’s Homemade Summer Salsa, or this vegan spinach artichoke dip.

Labor Day is national holiday that honors American workers. While you celebrate over good food, remember those who grow, prepare and serve your comida.

Unfortunately, many food service workers suffer from low wages, lack of basic benefits like paid sick days, and often have limited opportunities for promotions, conditions which prompted fast-food workers in over 50 cities across the nation to go on strike this week.

Support food workers this Labor Day by choosing providers who treat workers fairly. Click here to learn about resources that help consumers identify businesses with fair labor practices, and click here to see which national fast-food companies and food service providers have taken steps to end farm labor exploitation by signing Coalition of Immokalee Workers’ Fair Food Program Fair Food Agreements.

Eating nutritious foods is key to maintaining good personal health. Make it easy for you and your loved ones to eat well on any occasion by serving sabroso healthy favorites like guacamole.
