She does Morena and here’s the real extraordinary part: she says she gets that strength from her people and the suffering they’ve endured. As for being on a meditation retreat, if only I could quiet my mind for five minutes! Maybe I’ll work up to it?

Wow Viviana, this woman is so strong, I cannot believe it. I practice meditation and go to meditations retreat where you have to stay there for 10 days and by the second or thrid day Im already feeling trapped. Being under arrest for all those years, for your convictions, is something very few people would be able to do. She must have such incredible inner strength!

Vivi, as a fellow journalist, I love and appreciate hearing the behind the scenes story because I know and have experienced the interview-gone-wrong, no-working-phone-number and dropped-iPhone-calls, on-deadline jitters and the other end of the spectrum of being inspired by the person I just spoke to (even when they’re not famous) despite all the events leading up to the interview. Great piece and thanks for sharing. I hadn’t seen it the first time around in May.
